Grants and Guidelines
From 1 June 2025 our grants are changing.
Due to ongoing financial pressures, in response to rising demand and limited funding across the charity sector, we have made some changes to how we provide direct financial support to people living with MND and their carers.
Please see below for more information on the Making Time Count grant, available to support people with MND, their carers and family members.
If you have any questions about our grants, please contact the support team on support@mndscotland.org.uk / 0141 332 3903.
Making Time Count Grant
Following a financial review of our grants, we have taken the decision to combine our previous grants into one simplified wellbeing grant – Making Time Count Grant – to help us continue supporting people with MND, their carers and family members in a sustainable and consistent way.
The Making Time Count Grant is MND Scotland’s wellbeing grant, created to support people living with MND, as well as their carers and family members.
From June 2025, we have introduced a needs-based approach, meaning that the amount awarded may vary depending on individual circumstances. This allows us to prioritise those with greater financial pressures, while still ensuring that everyone affected by MND can access financial support.
The Making Time Count Grant will come into effect on 1 June 2025 and will be funded by MND Scotland and the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
We understand that every situation is different. Our aim is to offer support that is tailored to individual need.
Our grants can help ease the pressure you may be under and help you to make time count with the ones you love.
Time for You Grant
Purpose: To improve your wellbeing by accessing services that can enhance your quality of life.
Details: Provides up to £500 for services such as acupuncture, aromatherapy, massage, and more traditional self-care treatments like hairdressing or podiatry.

Carers Grant
Purpose: The Carers Grant is specifically designed to support those who are caring for someone with MND by providing financial assistance up to £500.
Break Away from Routine: The grant can help carers take a much-needed break from their daily caregiving responsibilities. This might include funding for short breaks, leisure activities, or simply time to relax.
Access to Services: Carers can use the grant to access services that improve their own wellbeing. This could cover costs for therapies such as massage, or therapies that help manage stress and enhance quality of life.
Details: Up to £500 can be used to help carers to take a break and focus on their wellbeing.
Continued Support: If the person with MND has passed away, carers can still access the grant up to six months post bereavement to help support them during this challenging period.
