MND Scotland welcomes four new Trustees

We are delighted to introduce the four new additions to MND Scotland’s Board of Trustees.

Carrie-Anne Corson, David McGraw, Stan Ure and Cathryn Davies will join the existing 8 Trustees, bringing the board up to 12 members.

The new additions come from a variety of backgrounds, including the NHS, accounting, local government and banking.

Each of the new trustees has been selected based on their personal and professional experiences as well as the unique skills and perspectives they could add to the board.

Let’s meet the new Trustees!

Carrie-Anne Corson

Advanced Speech and Language Therapist, NHS Scotland

Carrie has worked in the NHS for the past 14 years, supporting people with communication and swallowing difficulties at all stages of MND progression. Carrie also helped care for her uncle who passed away from MND in March 2017.

“I helped care for my uncle who was diagnosed with MND in November 2015 at the age of 47. He later passed away in March 2017.

I’m committed to improving the quality of life of those affected by MND and I look forward to living in a world where a cure is found.”

David McGraw

Self-employed Accountant

David is a Chartered Accountant who has worked with PwC in the UK and in New Zealand, before joining RBS, where he spent 23 years in a number of senior financial positions. He became involved with MND Scotland after he lost his mother-in-law to MND in 2011.

“My mother-in-law, Yvonne, was diagnosed with MND in 2009 and passed away in 2011. Having been part of the MND journey with Yvonne and the family, I see this role with MND Scotland as an opportunity to do everything I can to support the current fantastic team, to help transform the level of care and support for all involved and to help find a cure.“

Stan Ure

Retired Head of Economic Development, Dundee City Council

Stan spent his career in local government and around the time he retired in 2015, his wife was diagnosed with MND. She passed away later that years and Stan and his family received support from MND Scotland and the NHS during this time.

“Around the time I retired from Dundee City Council in 2015, my wife was diagnosed with MND and she passed away later that year. My family and I received a lot of help from MND Scotland and NHS Tayside during that period.”

Cathryn Davies

Learning & Development Business Partner, Sainsbury’s Bank

Cathryn is interested in talent and leadership development, and the investment in early careers.

Cathryn and her family have a lot of personal experience of MND, as both of her grandfathers died of the condition.

“In my own time, I love to spend time travelling with my husband and daughter, Harper. I enjoy watching movies, particularly those with a war history leaning. I love a good box set, and I watch Band of Brothers at least 2 or 3 times a year! Whilst on maternity leave in 2015/16, I gained my Masters in Human Resource Management – no mean feat with a newborn at home. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and I’m passionate about people striving to be the best they can be.”
