Scottish Master Chefs cook up a storm for MND

Lucy Lintott (24), the youngest person in Scotland with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), started her fundraising campaign Lucy’s Fight, for MND Scotland in 2014, and has raised over £180,000 to date. Now close family friend and Chair of the Master Chefs of Great Britain, George McIvor, is hosting a fine-dining experience, with a top Scottish culinary line up, to help in the fight against MND.

On Friday 17th May, a host of professional chefs will join Gary Maclean at the Hotel Colessio, in Stirling, for the unique Master Chefs of Great Britain event. The team of chefs will include; Robert Lintott (Lucy’s dad), Kenneth Hett, David Auchie, Shaune Hall, Warren Brown, Neil Mugg, as well as students from South Lanarkshire, Glasgow City, Perth and Forth Valley Colleges.

George McIvor, who will be hosting the event, said “I’ve worked with Lucy’s dad, Robert, fourteen years and have known Lucy all her life. We have talked for a while about doing a Master Chefs event for MND and I’m thrilled to now be able to help towards Lucy’s incredible fundraising campaign for MND Scotland.”

Gary said, “It’s fantastic to be involved in an event for such a worth-while cause. I’m looking forward to getting together with the team to discuss the menu and deliver something special on the night. Everything Lucy has done to raise awareness of, and funds for, MND is truly inspiring, and I’m honoured to be able to help.”

Lucy Lintott, from Moray, who was diagnosed with MND at the age of just 19, said “I’m really looking forward it. I love food, so a five-course meal sounds like a great night to me! It’s amazing to see so many people come together to do an event for Lucy’s Fight. I’ve raised over £180,000 for MND Scotland, so it will be brilliant to add even more to that total. Iain McWhirter, MND Scotland’s head of fundraising, said, “We are delighted that George and the team have decided to support Lucy’s Fight for MND Scotland. The event sounds like it will be a unique experience for those attending and we cannot thank everyone enough for volunteering their time to do this.

“All the money raised from the evening will help us fight back against MND, by funding more ground-breaking research to find a cure. It will also help us continue to support families in Scotland, like the Lintott’s, to make life with MND a bit easier.”

The event will begin with a champagne and canapé reception with entertainment from a traditional Scottish pipe band. The evening promises to be full of flavours, fun and fundraising.
