We will host our first online People in Policy group meeting on Monday 24th April, 11:30am – 1pm via Zoom.
This meeting will focus on social care and we warmly welcome anyone affected by MND who has experience – positive or negative – of receiving social care.
About our People in Policy group
Through our services, we help people living with MND to access the support they’re entitled to. This is often in areas such as social care, social security benefits, and essential home adaptations. However, sometimes the rules, laws and policies which determine how these services are delivered can cause problems and prevent people with MND accessing what they need, when they need it.
That’s why our Policy team works with MSPs, MPs and councillors, to try to ensure policies and laws work for people living with MND and their loved ones. Right now, social care, home adaptations, accessible housing and social security benefits are our key priorities, but we are always keen to hear about any issues that are affecting you.
Our new People in Policy group allows people with MND to get involved directly in shaping our Policy work. By sharing your experience, and telling us what needs to change, you increase our chances of improving things for people affected by MND. This might involve you contributing to reports, consultations, or focus groups, for example. You can be involved as much or as little as you like.
Register your interest
To register your interest in this meeting or any future meetings, please complete the form below.
Please note, the group on Monday 24th April is open, meaning that anyone currently, or previously affected by MND currently can attend. However, we recognise that attending an open group can be difficult. In recognition of this, we can facilitate individual conversations. If you have been bereaved by MND and would prefer to share your experiences in a group with only others who have been bereaved, please select that option in the form below or get in touch with us directly.
If you’d like any further information or there are other issues affecting you that you think we should be looking at, please get in touch by emailing involvement@mndscotland.org.uk, or by phone or text on 07593 533 054.
