MND Scotland’s Lived Experience and Researcher Network (LEARN) local events will return in Autumn 2026.

Since launching in 2024, LEARN local events have brought together over 270 people affected by MND and MND researchers to share knowledge, experiences, and opinions.

This year we will be returning to Aberdeen, Dingwall, Dundee, Edinburgh, and Glasgow – with the addition of our first LEARN event in Dumfries to our event calendar.

Our Research Team has been collecting feedback from people with lived experience of MND and MND researchers to create an even more interactive and engaging way of bringing the MND community together to learn about research.

The sessions at the event will encourage the local MND community to discuss MND research, what matters to them, and help to build relationships with others affected by MND and MND researchers. There will be the opportunity to hear about research directly from researchers and ask them questions. The events also provide a chance for researchers to learn about the lived experience of MND and hear the opinions of those with lived experience on their research.

Ahead of the events this year, we will be creating a digital “Research across Scotland” booklet which attendees can access prior to the event. This booklet will contain information about researchers from across the country and their research. This will give everyone the chance to read about ongoing research before the event and prepare questions in advance for the researchers.

Last year we received a warm welcome from several football clubs across the country. For the Autumn events this year, LEARN will once again return to Pittodrie, The Global Energy Stadium, Tannadice Park, Tynecastle Park, and Celtic Park. We will be holding our Dumfries event at The Queen of the South Arena and look forward to our first event in this area.
