Led by Airport Chaplain Iain Hudson, the team at Glasgow Airport recently participated in the Glasgow Kiltwalk’s 14-mile Big Stroll challenge on Saturday 26 April 2025 in support of MND Scotland to help raise vital funds for motor neuron disease support and research.
Iain Hudson, 57, originally from Stockton-on-Tees, trained as a Salvation Army Officer and led four Salvation Army church and community programmes in Perth, Edinburgh, Reading, Berkshire, and Bromley before taking the appointment as Airport Chaplain in Glasgow in July 2024.
He is married to Alison, who is also an ordained Salvation Army Officer, and they live in Stepps, Glasgow. The couple have two children together, Amy and Will.
Iain has played a crucial role in establishing the partnership between MND Scotland and Glasgow Airport, as the charity has been selected as their ‘Charity of the Year’. He has organised numerous events and activities to support MND Scotland’s cause.
Iain said: “Our charity for 2025 is MND Scotland and our team will be taking part in fundraising activities throughout the year.”
“As Chaplain, I’m actively involved in promoting fundraising opportunities and have organised three bucket collection days in April, June and September, a sponsored virtual bike ride in the terminal building with staff ‘doing a shift’, and of course the Glasgow Kiltwalk.”
This year’s Glasgow Kiltwalk took place on 26 and 27 April 2025, and brought together volunteers, supporters, and community members to raise funds and awareness for different charities across Scotland.
MND Scotland supporters came out in force over the weekend, participating in the Wee Wanderer, Big Stroll, and Mighty Stride Kiltwalk challenges across both days.
The Big Stroll event took place on Saturday 26 April 2025, starting at Queens Quay Clydebank and finishing at Balloch on the South Shore of Loch Lomond. Iain, Kenny, Linda, Helena, Christine, Marie, Louise, Vicki, Yasmin, and Marianne from Glasgow Airport all took on the 14-mile challenge to support MND Scotland – the only charity in Scotland dedicated to directly supporting people with MND, their families and friends.
Since being founded over forty years ago, MND Scotland has provided practical, financial and emotional support to anyone affected by MND whilst also funding essential research into finding effective treatments and a cure.
Lynne Wiseman, Fundraising Lead for MND Scotland, said: “We are incredibly honoured to have been chosen by Glasgow Airport as their Charity of the Year.”
“MND Scotland is funded entirely by donations and grants, so this partnership will help raise much-needed funds, helping contribute to our vision of a world without motor neuron disease.”
“We are excited to work together with Glasgow Airport throughout the year. We want to thank the team for taking on the Glasgow Kiltwalk and supporting our cause”
The Glasgow Airport team have already surpassed their target of £1000, with donations still coming through every day. If you would like to support the team by donating, please visit their JustGiving Page.
