Time for You Grant
Purpose: To improve your wellbeing by accessing services that can enhance your quality of life.
Details: Provides up to £500 for services such as acupuncture, aromatherapy, massage, and more traditional self-care treatments like hairdressing or podiatry.
Usage: The grant is available to anyone diagnosed with MND, to make these beneficial services more accessible to those who may face financial barriers to services that improve wellbeing.

MND Scotland EAA Grant Guidelines
The Equipment and Adaptations Grant (EAA Grant) provides vital support to individuals affected by motor neuron disease (MND), helping to fund specialised equipment and essential home adaptations that promote independence and improve quality of life.
Here is a clear breakdown of the guidelines for this grant:
Funding Overview
- Maximum Grant Amount: Up to £1,500 per applicant over a rolling 12-month period.
- Multiple Applications: Permitted within the year, but total funding must not exceed £1,500.
Eligibility Criteria
Referral and Engagement
Applications must be submitted via:
- Self-referral
- Referral from a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
The applicant must be actively engaging with an MND Scotland Support Team Advisor.
Applications will not be accepted from individuals who are not engaging with the support service.
Eligible Expenses
- Converting a bathroom to a wet room.
- Converting a downstairs room to a bedroom.
- Contributing towards the cost of installing a stair lift.
- Purchasing specialised equipment not available from statutory sources.
Statutory Equipment
If the item is considered a statutory provision:
- It must be discussed with the relevant local authority or health board.
- The reason for non-provision must be clearly documented.
- This will be challenged by the Support Team Advisor and escalated to the Policy & Campaigns team if necessary.
Application Requirements
Documentation
- Two estimates from qualified traders are required for building works or adaptations.
- Receipts must be provided for any grant amount over £500.
- Failure to provide receipts may result in future applications being rejected.
Safety and Suitability
- A letter of support from a healthcare professional or trained assessor is required, confirming the item is safe for use.
- If safety cannot be confirmed, the grant will not be approved.
Restrictions and Exceptions
Items Not Eligible
- Items deemed unsuitable.
- Used goods that have not been assessed.
- Items purchased before applying for the grant (retrospective purchases).
Exceptions
May be considered based on individual circumstances, such as geographic location or lack of local support.
Statutory Source Restrictions
Grants will not be awarded for items that can or should be provided by a statutory source.
Support Team Advisor Requirement
If a local authority does not cover costs due to delays or budget constraints:
- Applicants must engage with an MND Scotland Support Team Advisor.
- Without this engagement, a grant will not be awarded.
- If the Support Team Advisor’s response is unfavourable, and funding is deemed in the client’s best interest, an application may proceed.
