Two new faces join MND Scotland

In February we welcomed a new Policy Officer and in April we created a new Communications Assistant post, as MND Scotland goes from strength to strength.

Colette McDiarmid, Policy Officer

Colette is originally from Dundee and is a Policy and International Relations graduate of the University of Dundee.

Colette came on board as our new Policy Officer in February and currently lives in Newburgh, Fife with her husband Andy and their dog Levon. She is a big Prince fan and is a season ticket holder at Dundee United.

She comes to MND Scotland with two and a half years’ experience at the Care Inspectorate and has also completed work experience placements at the Scottish Parliament and the Courier newspaper.

As the new Policy Officer for MND Scotland, Colette will be responsible for championing the organisation on the political level. She will also run campaigns and identify strengths and weaknesses in social care policy in Scotland for people affected by Motor Neurone Disease.

Craig Watson, Communications Assistant

Craig was born and raised in Dunfermline, Fife and is a Journalism graduate from Edinburgh Napier University.

Craig came on board as the new Communications Assistant in April, having previous experience in the Comms department at Perth & Kinross Council, in addition to work experience placements at local and national newspapers. 

Craig also has a personal connection to MND and has been fundraising for MND Scotland since 2012. In 2015 he was a part of the team of fundraisers who successfully reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, to raise awareness and funds for the charity.

As the new Communications Assistant for MND Scotland, Craig will be responsible for carrying out case studies on people with MND and helping supporters and fundraisers raise greater levels of awareness with press releases. He will also write content for the website and social media and help out running email campaigns and writing newsletters.
